3/16/20
House Rabbit Society Headquarters in Richmond, California, will change our regular operations in the interest of the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, and visitors, due to the rapidly evolving novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

Hop Shop Rabbit food and supplies

Hop Shop sales, including hay and pellets, can now only be made online at rabbit.org/shop.
Pickup: For those in the SF Bay Area, upon checkout, set a pickup time for the same-day or a future day. Pickups are currently Tuesday-Sunday from 11am-4:30pm. Your order will be waiting outside on our porch.
Shipping: We offer nationwide shipping!

Adoptions

Adoptions will be only by appointment. To schedule an adoption appointment, please watch our adoption education video, complete the adoption application, and email your application to rabbit-center@rabbit.org. We will facilitate the adoption remotely, and schedule your pickup of your rabbit from our porch.

We are not able to offer bonding or rabbit speed-dating services during the shelter-in-place order.

Fostering

Our foster program will be by appointment for pickup and drop-off, on our porch. rabbit.org/rabbit-center/foster

Volunteering

We are pausing our on-site volunteer program at this time, and have reached out to our current volunteers to notify them. Volunteers are at the heart of House Rabbit Society’s mission and work to help rabbits, and we look forward to welcoming volunteers to join us again soon.

Boarding

We are not offering boarding services during the shelter-in-place order.
We are reaching out to those with reservations during shelter-in-place and cancelling.

Grooming

We are not offering grooming services during the shelter-in-place order.

Rabbit Rescue

Our work to save the lives of rabbits who would be at risk of euthanasia, and to help the rabbits at House Rabbit Society will not stop, and will be undertaken with care. Staff will continue working at House Rabbit Society to care for the rabbits.

We encourage you to follow the CDC’s recommendations for protecting yourself and others, like frequent hand washing, staying home if you are feeling unwell, staying home if you are in an at-risk group, staying home if there has been a shelter-in-place order, coughing or sneezing into your elbow or a tissue, and maintaining at least a 6 foot distance from others.

Veterinarians around the world assure us there is no risk to companion animals of contracting coronavirus, but it is essential that the people who love and care for rabbits stay healthy in this difficult time.

We appreciate your patience as we navigate each day with these new challenges. We will continue to send updates via email regarding any changes or disruption in our services. Sign up for our e-newsletters.

If you are able to help at this time, we hope you will consider becoming a member of House Rabbit Society’s Bunny Brigade, our monthly giving club, at rabbit.org/bunnybrigade. Your ongoing support helps House Rabbit Society continue our lifesaving work to help rabbits now and in the future.

Thank you,
